On Wednesday 14th November NAW will be at Pembroke College where the Director Richard Beard will demonstrate the unique NAW textual Masterclass on stories or novel extracts submitted by members of the audience.
The Masterclass will be followed by NAW Patron Kevin Barry describing how he writes his books. Kevin Barry's debut story collection, There Are Little Kingdoms won the Rooney Prize in 2007. His first novel, City of Bohane, was published in 2011 and shortlisted for the Hughes and Hughes Irish Novel of the Year and the Costa First Novel Award. 'Beer Trip to Llandudno', a story from his new collection Dark Lies the Island, was awarded the Sunday Times EFG Short Story Prize. His short fiction has appeared widely on both sides of the Atlantic, in publications such as Best European Fiction, The Granta Book of the Irish Short Story and the New Yorker.
